9GAG Global Millennial Black Paper

In April 2017, 9GAG launched its first Millennial Black Paper in partnership with GFK. We (9GAG) put the survey on all our channels including our desktop, mobile web, app, and social media properties. Our users answered a handful of questions on how they felt about different topics. We received 134,694 responses in two weeks, from 194 countries. (Yes, we are that thorough and far-reaching.) What’s even cooler is that this survey is probably one of the LARGEST millennial surveys ever!

Check it out. We focused on 36 countries with n≥1,000 samples. They include:

  • Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States.

We define ‘Millennials’ (you should air quote this word as you read it) as anyone between 18-34 years old. Here’s the breakdown of who responded:

  • Ages 18 - 34: 95,356 survey respondents

  • Ages 18 - 24: 70,115 survey respondents

  • Ages 25 - 34: 25,241 survey respondents

  • Males: 77% survey respondents

  • Females: 23% survey respondents

We asked several “would you rather” questions about life, career, politics, the internet, video games, social media, entertainment, friendships, eating habits, etc. What we found is that Millennials are far more grounded than people give them credit for:

Finally, a big thanks to GfK (one of the largest market research companies in the world), which helped us with survey tools and research findings. Check them out at http://www.gfk.com.
